One of the biggest welcome surprises of Netflix's reboot, 'Fuller House', was the return of Steve Hale (Scott Weinger), who was DJ Tanner-Fuller's (Candace Cameron Bure) boyfriend in the sixth and seventh seasons of the original 'Full House'. Weinger first appeared as a one-off character, Steve Peters in Season 5 and returned later in Season 6 as Steve Hale, DJ's new boyfriend, whom she met while she was on a study abroad tour in the summer, much to her father, Danny Tanner's (Bob Saget) dismay. However, Steve won over everyone in the Tanner family, including Danny.

The couple broke up towards the end of Season 7 as Steve and DJ realized they were headed in separate ways. Both of them admitted that they still love each other, but that breaking up might be for the best. Before 'Fuller House', we last saw Steve in the series finale for 'Full House', when Steve showed up as DJ's last-minute prom date, and the two reunited. In the last scene, we see the two of them standing arm in arm, signifying that they got back together.

However, when 'Fuller House' first premiered in 2016, fans were disappointed to learn that DJ and Steve did not end up getting married. However, over the past four-and-a-half seasons, we have seen Steve and DJ get back together, and even engaged, making our "Steejay" hearts full.

The farewell episodes of 'Fuller House' will end with a "triple wedding", which will see Steve and DJ get married -- but before we bid farewell to the Tanner household once again, let's take a look at Steve and DJ's best moments from 'Full House'.

Camp counselors

During their relationship, Steve and DJ were both camp counselors for a summer camp attended by DJ's youngest sister, Michelle Tanner (Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen). DJ's friend, Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber), is also a camp counselor.

On the last night of camp, Steve comes to the girls' cabin to tell the little girls a scary story. However, he first greets DJ, which leads to one of the girls teasing DJ that he was her husband. When DJ responds that Steve isn't her husband, Michelle says, "not yet." So hey, even if Michelle isn't a part of 'Fuller House', she perhaps knew all along how things would end.

Steve says DJ is his first love

In the 'Full House' Season 6 episode, 'Prom Night', DJ and Steve's prom night is ruined as his ex-girlfriend, Rachel Taylor and Steve get voted as Prom Queen and King. We had known that Rachel broke up with Steve and it devastated him.

After Rachel and Steve dance, he tries to leave to find DJ, Rachel kisses him in an attempt to win him back. DJ, who saw this, kisses Rachel's date, in turn, for childish revenge. They reconcile and apologize to each other later, with Steve telling DJ that he did not know what love was before meeting her.

Fun fact, Scott Weinger (plays Steve) was actually Candace Cameron Bure's (plays DJ) senior prom date in real life.

Breakup

Steve and DJ's breakup towards the end of Season 7 came as a surprise for most fans. The actor, Scott Weinger, has since revealed that it happened because he wanted to go to college. However, the breakup scene also showed these two teenagers showing a maturity beyond their age, and perhaps why it was possible to bring them back together.

Not the 'perfect couple'

When DJ's Uncle Joey Gladstone (Dave Coulier) was offered a hosting gig for a game show called "The Perfect Couple" in Season 7, Steve and DJ take part as the dating couple.

While playing, the two realize that they don't know much about each other and while DJ is initially upset, Steve tells her he is glad because it keeps their relationship more interesting, and so every day will be like Christmas when he learns something new about her. This pleases DJ and they resolve their issues.

Fans may want to keep their eye out for an episode within the farewell episodes of 'Fuller House' to see whether Steve and DJ may fare better a second time around.

Steve and DJ reunite in series finale

When 'Full House' ended with its eighth season, the producers had one final surprise for fans. While DJ is set to go to her senior prom with Kimmy's date's cousin, she is told at the last moment that he would not show up.

But Steve does in the nick of time to save the day. After telling each other that they missed one another, they share a kiss. We expected a happily-ever-after for the couple after this scene and were disappointed when it did not happen. However, 'Fuller House' is set to make it official as Steve Hale finally becomes a part of the Tanner household.

'Fuller House' Season 5B will be available to stream on Netflix on June 2 at 12 am PST.
