Hardik's 'yes' to Cong quota formula, ‘no’ to joint poll campaignBy uniindia
New Delhi/Ahmedabad, Nov 22 (UNI) Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti (PAAS) leader Hardik Patel on Wednesday said the reservation formula put forward by the Congress was true in spirit but PASS will not openly support Congress in the polls.

“Congress has agreed to Patidar’s demand for quotas in jobs and college admissions if voted to power,” Patel said.
They have said they will bring in a bill in Gujarat assembly if voted to power.

Addressing a press conference in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, the PASS leader said his anti-BJP stance would directly or indirectly benefit the Congress at the hustings.

“I will not campaign in support of Congress but will continue exposing the BJP which will benefit the Congress ultimately,” he said.

Giving details of the reservation formula, Patel said, the quota formula will be included in Congress’s manifesto and the reservation will be based on Article 46 and Article 31 of the Constitution.
“The existing 49 per cent SC/ST/OBC reservation will not be disturbed,” he added.

He said there had been no ticket-sharing arrangement with the Congress and that his outfit PAAS will continue its agitation till its demands for reservation were not met.
He said PASS had not demanded any ticket from the Congress but tickets were given to two PASS leaders by the Congress without consulting him.

He said he was not going to join any political party for the next 2-3 years.
“I am not joining any political party,” Patel declared.

Charging the BJP with intimidating his supporters and also using money power to influence Patidar leaders, Hardik said the BJP was trying to fund independent Patidar candidates to divide votes and win.

Patidars make up around 13 per cent of the state’s population and can potentially influence the outcome in around 60 seats in a 182-member state assembly.
