Sanchez unexpectedly misses United training

MANCHESTER, England -- Alexis Sanchez unexpectedly missed Manchester United's final training session before their Champions League clash with Juventus.

Jose Mourinho's squad trained at Carrington on Monday morning ahead of the Italian champions' visit to Old Trafford but the Chile international was not part of the group.

Sanchez was named on the bench for the 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday and came on as an 85th-minute substitute.

Marouane Fellaini, Phil Jones, Diogo Dalot, Scott McTominay and Jesse Lingard also missed the session at United's training ground but Antonio Valencia, who was not part of the squad at Chelsea, has returned.

Youngsters Tahith Chong, Tom Sang and Zak Dearnley took part in the session as Mourinho's prepared his players for Juventus and Cristiano Ronaldo's return to Old Trafford.

Sanchez has started just two of United's last seven games but his absence from training will be a concern for Mourinho ahead of the crunch clash with the Serie A giants.

His team sit second in Group H, behind Juventus, after a disappointed 0-0 draw with Valencia in their last game.
