Woman sets sleeping husband on fire in Pampanga – policeBy Inquirer

MANILA, Philippines — A 24-year-old woman has allegedly set her sleeping husband on fire in Pampanga province on Sunday afternoon, police said Wednesday.

A report from the Sta. Rita municipal police identified the suspect as Gisel Batas, and the victim as Vidal Batas, 25.

According to the investigation, the incident happened around 1 p.m. Sunday inside the couple's home in Barangay San Isidro. Police said Gisel poured gasoline over the sleeping Vidal and then set him on fire. Police said the couple figured in an altercation prior to the incident but it was not revealed what the couple argued about.

Gisel immediately fled from the scene but was subsequently arrested by police, which promptly conducted a pursuit operation after receiving a complaint from Vidal's relative.

Police said concerned citizens rushed the victim to a nearby hospital. But Vidal died while undergoing treatment.

Pampanga police chief Col. Jean Fajardo told INQUIRER.net in a text message that police have filed a parricide complaint against the suspect.
