Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey ruled out of Wales friendly against Trinidad and TobagoBy Evening Standard

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey will miss Wales' friendly clash with Trinidad and Tobago due to a minor thigh injury, manager Ryan Giggs confirmed on Tuesday.

Ramsey started and featured for 87 minutes last Thursday in the Europa League last-16 second-leg meeting with Rennes at the Emirates Stadium, teeing up Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's first goal as Unai Emery's Gunners qualified for the quarter-finals, where they will face Napoli.

However. a knock will prevent him from playing any part in the first of two fixtures during the current international break as Wales take on Trinidad and Tobago at Wrexham's Racecourse Ground on Wednesday evening.

Giggs is hopeful that 58-cap Ramsey, who has agreed to join reigning Serie A champions Juventus in July, will have recovered in time for Sunday's opening Euro 2020 qualifier against Slovakia in Cardiff.

"Aaron's just got a slight knock to his thigh and we are monitoring that this week, but he should be OK for the weekend," Giggs said.

Wales will be without Chelsea midfielder Ethan Ampadu for both matches due to a back issue, while Stoke striker Sam Vokes and Derby winger Tom Lawrence are also sidelined.

David Brooks, Daniel James and James Lawrence should all be fit to feature against Slovakia, while Giggs said it was "great" to see talisman Gareth Bale play 90 minutes for Real Madrid against Celta Vigo at the weekend after an ankle issue.

Wales have been training at Manchester United's Carrington training base in the build-up to their forthcoming double-header.
