In exchange for more marks during exams, a junior college professor allegedly demanded a kiss from a 17-year-old female student in Mumbai.

The 35-year-old professor was arrested by the police in Ghatkopar after the incident came to light.

According to police, the girl, a 17-year-old first-year junior college commerce student fell into depression after the professor asked her for a kiss in return for more marks.

The family took notice of her odd behaviour and started questioning her. After a lot of coaxing, she finally opened up and revealed the entire incident to her family members, after which they approached the police, according to reports.

The family also started a social media campaign and asked people to gather outside the police station so that quick action is taken against the professor in the case.

The accused was booked under IPC and POCSO sections of sexual harassment and sexual assault.

According to police, the incident took place on March 8 but was reported on Saturday. The professor, who teaches at a popular city college, told the 17-year-old girl that he would give her good marks in the college test if she kissed him.
