Congress dividing CMs on basis of party, weakening fight against Covid, says BJPBy uniindia
New Delhi, May 6 (UNI) The BJP on Wednesday said Congress president Sonia Gandhi was dividing the chief ministers of states on the basis of party and bent upon weakening the country's fight against Covid-19 pandemic.
Party's national spokesperson Syed Shahnawaz Hussain said,'Chief Minister of Congress and other Chief Minister ....
Sonia ji should stop dividing Chief Ministers like this.'
Alleging that Ms Gandhi and the Congress were doing politics on Corona crisis, he said, 'Sonia Gandhi and the Congress are doing politics on Corona whereas Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while taking along all the chief ministers, is working hard.
Prime Minister Modi is being praised around the world for his work.'
He alleged that Ms Gandhi is doing the work of dividing the chief ministers of Congress and other chief ministers, adding that 'Ms Gandhi is bent upon weakening the fight against Corona.'
Mr Hussain said Dr Manmohan Singh was also raising questions.
If Prime Minister is of the country then chief ministers are also of the country, he pointed out.
Ms Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Dr Manmohan Singh are raising questions, answers to which are already given, the BJP leader said and added that it was requested that they do not politicise the pandemic.
Congress has no right to weaken the fight against the Corona, he stressed, 'We should be together at this hour, but Ms Gandhi is raising questions about the lockdown.
It is unfortunate that she is behaving in this manner,' he stated.
'The Congress has not helped in any way.
They have never given any constructive suggestions,' he said.
'Has Rahul any responsibility towards the country apart from raising questions on states and the Centre,' Mr Hussain asked.
'On Prime minister's appeal to switch off lights in solidarity with nation's fight against Corona for 9 minutes on April 5, Ms Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said power grid will fail , but nothing happened.
They have done the work of only attacking the government when the whole country is unitedly standing with the Prime Minister,' he said.
Earlier in the day, Congress president Sonia Gandhi questioned the Centre over the criteria it is using to judge how long lockdown will continue.
'After May 17, what? And after, May 17 How? What criteria is the government using to judge how long the lockdown is to continue,' Ms Gandhi said while speaking at a meeting of chief ministers of the Congress-ruled states and senior party leaders.
Besides Chief Ministers, former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, former party president Rahul Gandhi, P Chidambaram, Jairam Ramesh, KC Venugopal, Randeep Singh Surjewala among others attended the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, Dr Singh said that the party president has already pointed out the issue and the Chief Ministers need to deliberate and ask the strategy of Union government to get the country out of lockdown.
Mr Chidambaram said the Central government is not allocating money to the state governments to help them deal with the Covid-19 crisis.
