New Delhi, Dec 7 (UNI) A day after the US recognised Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, India on Thursday made it clear that its position on Palestine remained unchanged and was not influenced by any third party.

"India's position on Palestine is independent and consistent. It is shaped by our views and interests, and not determined by any third country," External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said in response to queries on President Donald Trump’s decision taken on Wednesday.

The recognition of the disputed city of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital overturns decades old US policy, which is likely to have major repercussions in the Middle East.
