Manipur, Aug. 14 -- Those involved in death of Babysana will not be spared: CM
"The state government will not compromise on any ground concerning the death of Babysana. It will be thoroughly investigated and those found involved in the death will not be spared. The public can also suggest an alternative means if they are not satisfied with the work of the Special Investigation Team, which has been set up to investigate the case of Babysana."
Chief minister of Manipur, N. Biren Singh made the statement while speaking during the Patriots' Day observation held at B.T park today after paying homage to the martyrs, along with the governor, council of ministers, MLAs and state government officials.
He said that acting according to the law is the motto of the present government and the government is listening to the demands of the JAC against the death of Babysana. As such, it is also working along with the demands of the JAC by allowing a video recording of the post mortem. The state government had already sent a letter to hand over the case to the CBI, he added.
The chief minister in his speech, also said that Manipur lost its independent kingdom due to internal differences and lack of unity between the princes of that time while fighting for better positions and power, thereby creating an opportunity for the enemies.
The British who were aware of the brave prince and kings of the State also tried convincing the rulers who will be a stumbling block in the expansion of the British Empire. But, Bir Tikendrajit at that time had no other intention other than liberating the land from the British, he added.
The kings of that time were aware that they would be defeated while fighting against the mighty British but their love for the land and their spirit motivated tem to fight against the British, he stated.
The present state government is paying its respect and recognition to the patriots of the land. As such, JNIMS road had been renamed as Pukhrambam Kajao road and the road leading from Lamphel to Shija hospital is also declared as Chirai Naga road.
The present government since its formation, is solving different issues of the State till date though there always have been different issues in the State where different communities and organisations exist, said Biren. While saying that the same case and stories which were found in crime and detective magazine are now prevailing in the State, the chief minister also lauded police for their active role in solving different crimes in the State.
The day was celebrated in Moreh at Ima Kondong Lairembi Haraobung. Different CVOs were present such as- Meetei Council Moreh, All Community Development Organisation Moreh, Kha Nongpok Apunba Nupi Lup, Nupi Khunai Chaokhat Lamjing Lup, Manipuri Muslim Council Moreh's leaders. School students observed a two minutes' silence for the deceased Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General along with offering floral tributes.
The observation was also organised by PPANL, JDO, AMSU, JIMPAL and CADA, Jiribam at the conference hall of Ancestral Heroes' Memorial Complex, Ningsingkhun Biodiversity Park, Jiribam district.
It was attended by president, AMWJU and MMTA , Bijoy Kakchingtabam, chairman, PPANL, Dr. Arunkumar Mangang, vice chairman, Manipur, food Industries Corporation Ltd, K. Sarat Kumar Singh, retd. Principal, JHSS and Secretary, Senior Citizen Society, Jiribam , S. Maniton Singh, president, JIMPAL, H. Mema Devi as chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.
A painting competition taken part by around 40 students was also organised as a part of the observation.
The occasion was also observed by the district administration, Bishnupur at Panchayat Resource Centre, DC office complex with Neeta Arambam, deputy commissioner of the district as the chief guest.
The observation commenced with display of salute by a team of Bishnupur District Police followed by offering of floral tributes at the portraits of those warriors who sacrificed their lives in the 1891 Anglo-Manipur War.
Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Neeta Arambam, DC urged all to imbibe the spirit of the great heroes who sacrificed their lives while fighting the mighty British in Anglo Manipuri War 1891 and work together for the development of the land without any discernment for others.
She also advocated for peaceful coexistence without discrimination based on religion, caste among others. 'As our forefathers had done, let us live together peacefully without any discrimination, bandhs or blockades but as a developed and respectable district she stated.
The observation function was graced by principal of Royal Academy of Law, Oinam Jugeshwar, DLOs, staffs and students from the district.
The DIO/DIPR also conducted 'Prabhat Phery' in different parts of the district, playing patriotic songs as part of the Patriots' Day observation.
The day was also organised by District Administration Thoubal at the Election Counting hall of DC Complex, Thoubal. It was attended by Adhyaksha, Thoubal Zilla Parishad, Hasina Begum as chief guest, deputy commissioner, Thoubal District, N. Bandana as president while chairperson, Thoubal Municipal Council, Th Shyamo and SP, Thoubal District police, Dr S Ibomcha attended as guests of honour.
In her speech, DC Thoubal recalled the supreme and selfless sacrifice made by our forefathers in the freedom struggle and expressed the need for more unity and cooperation in the present generation. M. Sanahal, A.I, ZEO Thoubal also spoke on the significance of Patriots' Day.
Earlier, floral tributes were offered to the portraits of Thangal General and Bir Tikendrajit led by Zilla Parishad Adhyaksha along with prayers of different communities as part of the function.
District administration Kangpokpi also observed Patriots' Day as a mark of respect to the selfless sacrifice made by our forefathers who laid down their lives fighting the British during the Anglo-Manipuri war of 1891.
The function was held at the multipurpose hall Deputy Commissioner's Office at Kangpokpi. Deputy Commissioner, Kangpokpi Lalithambigai K, IAS led the officials in paying floral tributes to the portraits of Bir Tikendrajit, Paona Brajabashi and Thangal General.
Later in her address to the gathering, the DC stated that Patriots' Day is being observed every year across the state in memory of state heroes Bir Tikendrajit, Paona Brajabashi, General Thangal and others who laid down their lives fighting the British during the Anglo-Manipuri war of 1891.
She further added that we should never forget the selfless sacrifice of the freedom fighters of Manipur who fiercely fought the mighty British Empire.
ADC, Kangpokpi Lalramsang Infimate, SDO Kaigoulal Kipgen and other officers and staff also attended the function.
The observation was also organised by district administration Chandel at the DRDA hall, DC complex Chandel. Today's observance starts with the floral tributes and two minutes silence in honour of the great Martyrs.
In today's function deputy commissioner, Chandel said that today is a very special day for the people in Manipur. Reiterating the events which led to the Anglo Manipuri War, he said that despites being overwhelmed by the British army our forefathers fought bravely and made the supreme sacrifice for the motherland.
He further said that now it is our turn to do our duties and perform our responsibilities to make Manipur a more peaceful and prosperous state, he added that Manipur is one of the most beautiful states of the country and also hope that it also become the most developed state of the country.
He concluded by saying that everybody should contribute to make Manipur the most peaceful, prosperous and a more develop state of the country.
Speaking on the occasion Somorjit Singh, Commandant, 8th MR, reiterated the events which led to the Anglo Manipuri War, talking about the spirit of observing the Patriots' Day, he said that we should learn from our history and should not make the same mistakes again. He appealed to all the people to unite and work for a better and prosperous Manipur.
Today's observance was attended by the superintendent of Police, Chandel, SDO Chandel, DLOs and many other dignitaries and officials of the district.
128 th Patriots' Day was observed at Haobam Marak Chingtham Leikai Community Hall, Imphal West jointly organised by Bharat Swanhiman ( Trust) and Patanjali Yog Samiti and Chingtham Leikai Patanjali Yoga Centre.
In a release, it stated that during the celebration, the Prabhari, yoga teachers, yoga lovers and players of the Trust, Samiti of Imphal West paid tribute to the "heroes of Manipur" - Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General who fought against the British during the Anglo-Manipur War, 1891.
The Communist Party of India, state unit observed Patriots' Day at Irabot Bhavan, Thangal Bazar. Members of CPI Manipur state offered floral tribute to the portrait of the martyrs, it said.
The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) observed the 128 th Patriots' Day today at Jubilee Hall, RIMS. As part of this year's Patriots' Day observation, a blood donation camp in collaboration with 'Immuno Haematology and Blood Transfusion (IHBT) Department' of RIMS was also held and 27 staff, students and volunteers donated blood.
Life Savers Manipur in collaboration with Shija Blood Bank and Transfusion Services Langol organised a blood donation camp to celebrate Patriots' Day and give respects to martyrs at the Shija Blood Bank and Transfusion Services, Langol complex.
Kanglei Enat Thang-Ta Shindam Sanglen, Kongpal Chanam Leikai observed 128th Patriots' Day a KETTSS Hall by organising a variety programme including Thang-Ta, a release stated Manipur Peoples' Democratic Front and Lok Janshakti Party also observed Patriots' Day.
Patriots' Day was observed by the Units of 9 Sector Assam Rifles IGAR (South) in remembrance of the patriots who laid down their lives fighting in the honour of Manipur during Anglo-Manipur War of 1891, Bir Tikendrajit and Thangal General, said a release by IGAR (South).
Tulihal Battalion organised a motivational lecture on 'Patriots Day' at St John's English High School and observed a two minute silence was observed, it said. Likewise, Thoubal Battalion also observed the day by conducting events at Elite Foundation Academy, Peace and Freedom Academy, Thoubal and Guidance Club Siphai Leikai, Yairipok. A stage drama was also performed by the students of the Academy based on the theme of 'Anglo Manipur War of 1891', it added and also that various games and competitions were also organised including a drawing and painting competition for the children.
The Welfare Club, Sagolband Tera Amudon Leikai was also observed Patriots' Day.
