Maidaan First Look: Ajay Devgn Shares The First Poster From The Upcoming Football Coach Syed Abdul Rahim Biopic

Actor Ajay Devgn is all set to set to star in yet period drama, titled Maidaan. The film will revolve around the golden era of Indian football from 1952-62 and went on floors on Monday. Sharing the film poster on social media, Ajay wrote, “Maidaan kicks off today!” It shows a handmade football placed as a globe with a stadium in the background. It will star Keerthy Suresh as the female lead. Ajay will play Syed Abdul Rahim, the architect of modern football in India. Syed was the Indian football coach and manager of the Indian national team from 1950 until his death in 1963. The film will be directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma of Badhaai Ho fame and produced by Boney Kapoor, Akash Chawla and Arunava Joy Sengupta. Talking about the film, Boney had earlier told India Today in an interview, “I was amazed that not many are aware of someone as significant as Syed Abdul Rahim. He’s an unsung hero whose achievements must be saluted. His team had heroes like Chunni Goswami, PK Banerjee, Balaram, Franco and Arun Ghosh. It takes someone like Ajay Devgn to play Syed Abdul Rahim. With him on board, I can just hope that our film inspires youngsters to play football, and India soon to bring the World Cup home.” Ajay, who was last seen in De De Pyaar De, will feature next in Bhuj: Ride of India, where he will essay the character of Squadron Leader Vijay Karnik who was in-charge of Bhuj airbase during the 1971 war, which remained operational despite facing heavy bombing from Pakistan. Ajay Devgn Turned Down Satte Pe Satta Remake And The Reason Is Amitabh Bachhan

Recently, reports were that Sohail Khan was interested in making the remake of Satte Pe Satta (1982), with his brother Salman in the lead. Now it is said that after Salman, even Ajay Devgn, had been approached to play the lead role but he firmly denied the role. The original movie Satte Pe Satta (1982) was produced by Romu Sippy and directed by Raj N Sippy and the remake rights are said to be with Rajesh Vasani. A trade source says , “Recently, Hrithik Roshan confirmed that he is in talks with Farah Khan for her next movie, the remake of Satta Pe Satta, produced by Rohit Shetty, but after Sohail Khan’s deal with Rajesh Vasani fell through, Ajay Devgn was approached to play Amitabh Bachchan’s role (Ravi Anand). But Ajay was firm on the issue that he would never do a remake of the Big B and explained to the producers why he would not do a Big B remake. At that time, though Rohit Shetty was not producing the movie, even then Ajay would have turned it down. Ajay is a man of principles. Even when a producer or director approaches Ajay for a movie, he knows another actor has been approached for too, he makes it a point to call up the other actor and ask him before he gives his nod to the project.” The source close to Bollywood Hungama adds that Ajay is extremely close to the Bachchan family and Abhishek Bachchan has always made it clear that he will never be a part of an Amitabh Bachcha's remake. “It’s a double role and Ajay would have been perfect to play the older brother and the impersonator Babu with grey shades so it would have been a challenging role for any actor to play. Ajay has tremendous respect and affection for Bachchan Senior. Also, he considers Abhishek to be like a younger brother, to do a movie which could put stress on the relationships. Ajay was one of the few stars to attend Abhishek's marriage. While Shah Rukh Khan has done Big B’s Don (1978) remake directed by Farhan Akhtar (2006), if Hrithik gives the nod to Farah’s Satte Pe Satta remake, it will be his second Amitabh Bachchan movie remake. Hrithik had done the remake of Big B’s Agneepath (1990) directed by Mukul S Anand. Hrithik’s 2012 Agneepath remake was directed by Karan Malhotra.” Satte Pe Satta is a film about seven brothers (orphans), who live in a farmhouse, led by their oldest brother Ravi Anand (Amitabh Bachchan), and are taught basic etiquette and manners by a nurse Indu (Hema Malini). But everything becomes a mess when Ravi’s lookalike and impersonator, Babu, turns up. Apart from Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini, Satte Pe Satta (1982) featured Sachin, Shakti Kapoor, Paintal, Sudhir, Inderjeet and Vikram Sahu as the rest of the six Anand brothers and Amjad Khan, Ranjeeta Kaur, Sarika, Kanwaljit Singh, Prema Narayan, Mac Mohan and Kalpana Iyer in other key roles. The film is an adaptation of the American musical film Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.

This Is How Tabu Thinks Andhadhun Ended Since Director Sriram Raghavan Refused To Reveal The Ending

Actor Tabu, who impressed critics with her performance in Sriram Raghavan’s Andhadhun starring Ayushmann Khurrana, has said the director does not want to explain the ending. She, however, has shared what she thinks happened in the film’s climax. The film will have a special screening at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) and Tabu has said the open ending of the film is a major reason why people continue to discuss it even months after it released. Speaking with DNA in an interview, she said she would like to know what happens in the end but the director is not ready to reveal it. Also read: Bhojpuri actor Akshara Singh files FIR against singer Pawan Singh, alleges he threatened to kill her “I also want to understand what really happened, but Sriram is not ready to reveal. He is okay with any theory about the story. I also believe what you see is what you think. As far as I am concerned, Simi (her character) died and Ayushmann is actually blind in the end. Whether he is lying or telling the truth we don’t know,” she was quoted as saying. Last seen opposite Ajay Devgn in De De Pyaar De, Tabu recently wrapped up her portion of shoot for Saif Ali Khan’s Jawaani Jaaneman that will mark the Bollywood debut of Pooja Bedi’s daughter Alaia Furniturewalla. “I have been playing dark roles lately, and the character I play in Jawaani Jaaneman is absolutely refreshing. I loved the script when I read it and I definitely wanted to do this at the first go,” she told IANS recently. The film is slated to release on November 29. .Follow @htshowbiz for more
